These are the installation instructions for
MIB 2. The current version is
MIB 3, which requires MATLAB R2025a or newer; MIB 2 remains available for older MATLAB releases.
If you have a MATLAB license it is recommended to use
MIB for MATLAB distribution of MIB suitable for Windows, MacOS and Linux.
Otherwise use the standalone versions of MIB compiled for your operating system.
As they are compiled with our academic MATLAB license, the standalone versions are for non-commercial academic research only (see
license).
Run Microscopy Image Browser 2 under MATLAB environment
Installation instructions
- Requires MATLAB R2014b and newer
- Download MATLAB distribution of the program (
MIB2_Matlab.zip)
- Unzip and copy files to
MIB directory in your Scripts folder. For example, c:\MATLAB\Scripts\mib\
- Start MATLAB
- Add MIB starting directory (for example,
c:\MATLAB\Scripts\mib\) into MATLAB path MATLAB->Home tab->Set path...->Add folder...->Save, or alternatively use the pathtool function from the MATLAB command window
- Type
mib in the MATLAB command window and hit the enter button to start MIB
- Check System Requirements for further details about optional steps, such as use of Fiji or OMERO
- Access help and tutorials from the menu of MIB:
MIB->Menu->Help->Help
First start of MIB 2
- MIB starts with a window of tips and, every 30 days, checks for updates
- To use MIB with Fiji or Omero, add their installation directories to
MIB->Menu->File->Preferences->Program settings->External dirs
- If the widgets of GUI are too big or too small adjust the GUI scaling
